5 Reasons to Choose SVA

Ten-Month Program

This film program is intensive, thorough and focused. In 8 action-packed months students will learn and practice the skills required to create, produce and direct short films. What other program could turn your life around in such a short space of time?

Learn By Doing

Theory is one thing; action is another. During this course, our film students develop a screenplay, cast, location scout, direct and market their own film. We believe in learning by doing. Highly trained professionals guide and challenge students during our film program that is hands-on from the start.

Professional Players & Equipment

This is not amateur hour. In this film program, students work directly with some of the most pertinent and noteworthy industry professionals, including screenwriters, casting agents, directors, assistant directors, Directors of Photography, lighting, sound and grip crew, wardrobe stylists and editors, as well as the latest equipment. Our current holdings include Canon 60Ds, 5Ds, 7Ds and two Canon C300s as well as the Red Scarlet. We have a full range of Zeiss Prime Lens sets as well as individual zoom lenses.

Create Powerful Narratives & Get Recognized

Student films created in our program have already gone on to be official selections at such prestigious institutions as Cannes Film Festival and Film Festival Internazionale di Milano. Yours could be next.

Award-Winning Faculty

You will learn from the best in the field. Our studio-based program is chaired by award-winning filmmaker Bob Giraldi—a legendary commercial and music video director. As a student, you will have the chance to work hands-on with Bob and the rest of our award-winning faculty, learning from the best and brightest in the field.
